Publishing a book on Kindle can be a great way to accomplish a lot of things for your business. Getting people to actually pay for your book is obviously a nice boost in the pocketbook, but it’s the contents of your book that can make the biggest impact. So how do you get people to pick up your Kindle book? Well, you definitely need a good cover design.

If you are publishing on Kindle, you need these five tips for a killer cover.

1. Keep it different.
   You need to make sure your Kindle cover stands out and grabs peoples attention, making them say “I want that!”
2. Keep it simple.
   Limit the cover design to no more than three colors. Use colors that contrast well with each other.
3. Keep it legible.
   Use commercial fonts, and be sure they are appropriate sizes. One-off fonts will make your book look cheap and cheesy.
4. Keep it clean.
   Don’t feel like you have to cover every square inch with graphics or typeface. Empty space on the book cover can create positive tension before you even start reading.
5. Keep it legal.
   Swiping an artist’s copyrighted work for your book cover is a big no-no. You want people to pay for your book – so play fair by paying the person who created your cover art.  There’s websites such as iStockPhoto that can allow you to buy the rights to certain images to use on your book cover.

There’s many freelancers that are available out there for hire on websites such as UpWork or Elance.  However, it can be costly to hire top-notch designers.

If you’re on a budget, then I’d recommend a website such as Fiverr.  On Fiverr, you can find many graphics designers that can put together a high quality cover for you for only $5.

Publishing on Kindle is a great way to promote your business and build your brand recognition. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to give away a little information in order to attract new clients. I’ve found that Kindle publishing is the easiest and fastest way to generate passive income.
